ChRiStMaS

Christmas has come and gone and a new year is fastly approaching! It was definitely a Christmas we will not forget. Not only was it our first Christmas as a family but we were snowed in at my parents house until Saturday. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon trying to get there before the storm came. We made it! We then spent the next 3 days watching movies, playing games, and hanging out. We lost power on Christmas day. . . alll day. . . so that was a bit interesting. By Christmas night we were using flashlights and candles sitting around the kitchen table wondering what to do. . .we ended up all being in bed by 9:30. It just felt so weird because there was no Christmas Eve service and all our Christmases were cancelled. Gabe's brother and his fiance were trapped at their home up in South Dakota so it was disappointing not being able to be with them. Gabe and I are fortunate our families live so close. We didn't make it over to his parent's house until Saturday but at least we were able to spend some time with both of our families over Christmas as we both love family time!

Aunt Christin and Carson. . guess who got him the hat?!?!!?!

Ahrenholtz Christmas

Sunday we had the Ahrenholtz Christmas out at Grandma and Grandpa's house! Oh What Fun. . I absolutley LOVE Christmas and getting together with all our family. This was our first Christmas of many! I don't know how Grandma does it! I get exhausted shopping for like 10 people and she shops for her 5 kids and their spouses. . . her 16 grandkids and their spouses (7 aren't married but still), AND her 14 GREAT grandkids. . number 15 is on the way! She is sooo good and has such great ideas!

It is a crazy house all day long with all the young ones running around and all the cousins getting caught up on each others lives! Carson survived his first Ahrenholtz Christmas--but he was a tired little man Monday! Just a few pictures from the days excitement.
Tried to get a nice family photo. . Carson wasn't too impressed!

4 generations shot!

2 months!!

I cannot believe our baby is 2 months old! These last 2 months have just gone by so quickly. Our life has completely changed adding this new addition but we are loving every single minute of it! I love playing mommy and sometimes I feel like I'm a little girl again playing "house!" Carson had his 2 month appointment this morning! At 2 months, he weighs 13.8 pounds putting him at the 90th percentile and is a whopping 25 inches long puting him at the 97th percentile! He is one healthy little boy! After Carson's weight and length were measured and after he got checked over by doctor, we had to go into another room so he could get his 3 shots. . . I CRIED! It was so heartbreaking watching him lay there screaming while they were giving him the shots. He has gotten tons of love and hugs and cuddles today from mommy!

Gabe and I have truly been blessed with such a healthy and happy little guy! Our families and friends give him so much love. . . he is one lucky little boy!

Baby's almost here!

Friday night one of my best friends, Jenny, came over to visit us! Her husband was recruiting close to us so Jalen and her popped over to spend a few hours with Carson and I. (Gabe had a game so he missed all the fun!) She is almost 37 weeks pregnant and looks fabulous! I'm getting sooooo excited for this baby to be here so Carson will have a little playmate! I got to experience what a stinker Jalen can be! Jenny is definitley going to have her hands full when this baby arrives! She is due January 10th but this baby is not going to wait until then. . I just know it!

Christmas Photo Shoot

This morning before church I decided to do a mini Christmas photo shoot with Carson. I had bought this hat and stockings set at Target yesterday and just couldn't wait to start snapping some pictures! I couldn't get him to smile in any, but I still thought they were pretty darn cute! Here are a few shots!

Christmas Shopping. . .

Gabe and I decided to venture into Des Moines today to finish a little Christmas shopping. My mom was gracious enough to come watch Carson so we didn't have to drag him into the madness! You all can probably about imagine how much I had twist her arm to come watch him. . HA! I knew the malls and everywhere would be busy. . . but WHOA! It was insanely busy! I love to shop and today wasn't even enjoyable for me. Gabe hates to shop so I can about imagine what he was thinking. He had a great attitude though and did not complain one time!:) We did our stops at the mall and then had to run to Kohls and Target. Gabe and I decided we were going to be in and out of both stores because by this time we were ready to get out of the city! We were in and out of Kohls within 20 minutes. We showed up at Target at 2:40 and decided to split up and try to be walking out the door by 3. Your thinking impossible, right?!? Considering that it took us 5 minutes just to walk from our parking spot into the store I was thinking the same. We got into Target, split up, got the few things on the list, and met at the cash register. All the check out lines were rediculous but we patiently waited and were walking out of Target at 3:03. . . pretty impressive huh!!!
We got home to our sleeping baby and my mom. . .who had done up quite a bit of baking throughout the day. She had to take advantage of my stove since hers broke on her this week!

I absolutely love this time of year. Even though today was craziness, it was still fun to absorb the Christmas spirit. Gabe and I enjoy getting to spend time with so much family over the holidays! It will be so fun since this is Carson's first Christmas!

I had to share this picture that I took tonight. Carson woke up from his 3 1/2 hour nap about 6:30 and had completely peed through his outfit. Since tonight was bath night I didn't want to put him in his pajamas quite yet so I put him in this star snuggy blanky that he got from one of my teacher friends! So Adorable!

SNOW DAY!!!

I LOVE snow days! Gabe didn't have school yesterday or today and I was out at 12:30 yesterday and no school today! YAY! I have been wanting a snow day ever since I went back to work so I could have an extra day home with Carson. It was so nice Gabe didn't have school yesterday because that way I didn't have to get Carson out in the nasty cold weather! I was texting Gabe all morning and he was texting how Carson was being a stinker! Carson did not take a nap the entire morning and Gabe said everytime he layed him down. . he would start screaming! Now Gabe knows why I didn't get things done some days being home all day! HA! Carson just loves to have all the attention all the time! :) We love giving it to him though! By the way, is it bad that Gabe put Carson in one of his fleece pjs yesterday morning and he is still wearing them as I am typing this?!?! It is a good thing he gets a bath today! Little Stinker!
Gabe has been outside off and on all day clearing our drive way and working on our 87 year old neighbor's drive way with his new snowblower he got for his birthday! What a great idea my dad had with the snowblower idea for Gabe. . I cannot imagine Gabe out there trying to scoop all that snow by hand--we had drifts half way up Gabe's truck.

Reasons why I love snow days:

1. You can be in your pj's allll day and nobody cares!

2. If you forget to brush your teeth, nobody is going to say anything. . whoops!
3. Baking sugar cookies. . . yes, Gabe and I bonded!

4. Eating sugar cookie dough and taste-testing the final project--we have yet to frost them!

5. Being lazy!

6. Not changing your child's outfit in over 24 hours! Bath time coming soon!
7. NOT having to go to schooool!!!!!

Survived!

So I survived my first week back to school and done with one day of my 2nd week! I'm hoping for a snow day tomorrow or Wednesday so I can stay home and snuggle with my boys! I thought my first day back would be absoultely horrible and thought I may bawl all day! But, it turned out to be okay. . . I only teared up one time at school--3 times prior to getting to school! By 4 though, I was about sprinting out the door to go get my baby! Each day gets a little easier and I am thrilled for 4 0'clock to come around each day! It is surprising how much a group of 6th graders can miss a person! It was definitely a nice welcoming back! Carson seems to be getting a long well at the sitter! He needs to get used to not being held and played with all day. . oops! :) He no longer is the only one that gets ALL the attention--there are about 4 other little ones that take up the sitters time! Spoiled little booger!

Gabe had his first basketball game last Monday so Carson got to experience his first game! Tuesday night, Carson and I went to Audubon to watch IKM-Manning play and then Friday we were back at Daddy's game--busy busy week for all of us! Friday, my sister came out and watched Carson for 1/2 the day and then my mom and dad came out and watched him in the afternoon. Aunt Christin had to dig through his wardrobe and dress him in the clothes she had given to him--when I say dig, I mean dig because they were in with his clothes that are too big for him yet--too funny!

This weekend we hung out at home! I used to be that person who would always want to be going somewhere and doing something on the weekends. . well, ever since Carson has arrived, I LOVE staying home and doing nothing. I love just hanging out as a family! Saturday we went to get groceries and then just relaxed and watched Gabe's gators. . get beat unfortunatley--poor Tim Tebow. . had tears after the game. . he's so cute! Sunday Gabe's family came down for the afternoon. Gabe's dad and him worked in the basement hanging drywall while his mom helped around the house by fixing us supper, making up some cookies, and folding our laundry! Gabe's sister. . hmm. . she did what she usually does. . sat on the couch! :)

And now what you all look forward to each week. . .PICTURES!

What do you do when you can't carry both baby and clean laundry upstairs?!?! Put baby in laundry! :) Carson seemed to love the ride!

The other night when I was organizing our kitchen, I walked into the living room to this. . . how precious!

Could the cheeks get any bigger?!?!?!
